Chris Cook of Razing Hair Salon, 866 Montauk Hwy. Bayport. President of the BPBP Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee and Chamber Board of Directors supports International Overdose Awareness Day and National Recovery Month in collaboration with The Great South Bay Coalition. 
On Wednesday August 25th 2-5 pm RAZING HAIR SALON will be hosting a tabling event with The Great South Bay Coalition supporting “ISLIP GOES PURPLE”. Chris will be donating purple hair extensions with his staff donating their time applying the hair extensions on site. The Bayport Blue Point Chamber of Commerce supports raising awareness on substance use disorder in the Town of Islip and the Town of Brookhaven. 
Purple light bulbs,bows,lawn signs and literature will be distributed by our local Drug Free Community Coalition, Great South Bay Coalition. 
On August 31st,7pm the Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce will light our Chamber tree purple in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) to kick off National Recovery Month. All are invited to attend. International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of substance use disorder. Our Chamber Tree lighting was initiated in 2020 by Dorothy Johnson, Maxed Out Drug Prevention who lost her son to substance use disorder. Lights courtesy of Bayport Flower House.
